How do I choose a business name in Texas?
Your LLC name must be distinguishable from every other business already registered with the Texas Secretary of State, and it must include a term such as “Limited Liability Company,” “LLC” or “L.L.C.” Certain words, like “bank” or “insurance,” need special approval.

What is the formation guide you send?

Can I operate under a different name than my LLC?
Yes. If you want to use a brand name that is different from the LLC’s legal name, you file an assumed name certificate (often called a DBA) with the Texas Secretary of State. Many businesses do this when they run more than one brand under the same company.
Using a name that isn’t registered can cause problems with banks and payment processors, so it is worth filing correctly from the start.
